Dawson’s Creek fans, rejoice! Because Pacey and Joey are back (sort of).

In case you need reminding, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson appeared together on Dawson’s Creek for six seasons between 1998 and 2003, starring as an on-screen couple, Joey and Pacey.

Now, after more than 20 years, the former costars are back with a new romance movie called Happy Hours, which they were spotted filming in NYC last summer.

Katie wrote and directed the project, and she recently announced via Instagram that Happy Hours will be part of the Tribeca Film Festival this June. She shared the news with a beautiful new picture of her and Joshua together, with her arms around him from behind.

But, before we delve into the chaotic comments section, now might be a good time to mention that Katie and Joshua weren’t just on-screen lovers; they actually had a romantic relationship in real life, too. The pair dated for a year in 1998, with Katie telling Rolling Stone around that time that she’d fallen “in love.”

Unfortunately, Katie and Joshua didn't last as a couple, and as their acting careers blossomed, they both went on to marry (and subsequently divorce) other people. But decades have passed, and fans seemingly have high hopes that these friendly exes might be able to give the relationship another try for old times' sake.

Katie’s IG post about Happy Hours is absolutely flooded with comments from fans pleading with the two actors to get back together. One comment with nearly 7,000 likes says: “Please get married in real life and heal our [millennial] hearts💖,” while another popular response suggested that “this is the marriage that should have happened.”

Hilariously, it seems Katie has caught wind of — and maybe agrees with?! — the commentary. Fans recently noticed that she liked two lesser-liked comments about the prospect of a romantic reunion between her and Joshua, including one that said: “They should be a couple.”

Now, is this just some early promo move for their upcoming romance film, which happens to be about two former lovers reuniting later in life? Very possibly, yes. But does that make me less excited by this? Honestly, no — and it seems I’m not the only one.

“My parasocialness is activating,” one Reddit user wrote, echoed by someone else who said: “I just lost a little respect for myself when this got me excited for a second.”

“My elder millennial heart couldn’t handle it…” a fan wrote.
“It’s great PR for them, but seriously I would love this,” added another.
Well, PR or not PR, I am incredibly excited for this movie and super obsessed with Katie and Joshua’s relationship, whatever kind it may be.
