Amazon has appointed industry veteran Matt Schwimmer to spearhead business development for its Creator Services division. Schwimmer, who previously served as CEO of the sports media platform Playmaker and held a senior leadership role at Better Collective, brings extensive experience in managing high-profile, talent-led media properties. His background includes overseeing successful podcasts such as 'Club Shay Shay' and 'The Big Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal,' making him a strategic fit for Amazon’s growing audio portfolio.

This appointment follows a recent internal reorganization at Amazon, which saw the company shift its focus toward creator-led content by separating these assets from its Wondery podcast brand. The Creator Services team now manages a high-impact roster of shows, including 'New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce,' 'Armchair Expert,' 'Mind the Game' with LeBron James and Steve Nash, and the newly acquired 'The Oprah Podcast.' Schwimmer will report to General Manager Matt Sandler, focusing on the sourcing and execution of new partnerships.

The strategic importance of this hire lies in Amazon’s broader goal to integrate these popular creator brands more deeply into its vast ecosystem. By leveraging Schwimmer’s expertise, Amazon aims to maximize the commercial potential of its creator partnerships, moving beyond simple distribution to create cross-platform opportunities. As the media landscape continues to shift toward personality-driven content, Amazon is positioning itself to capture audience loyalty by bridging the gap between independent creator brands and its own massive retail and entertainment infrastructure.
