Kirsten Dunst is moving in for The Housemaid sequel.
Dunst will join star Sydney Sweeney in The Housemaid’s Secret, the follow-up to Lionsgate’s late 2025 theatrical hit, which has earned nearly $400 million at the global box office.
The sequel is based on Freida McFadden’s second book in her Housemaid series, which focuses on Millie Calloway, who takes on attendant duties for a new (and, of course, wealthy) couple, cleaning their penthouse in the city. When Millie is not allowed to see her new employer, Mrs. Garrick, she immediately becomes suspicious of her husband and secrets abound.

Paul Feig is returning to direct the sequel, along with screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine. In addition to Sweeney, Michele Morrone will also return to star as Enzo, reprising his role from the first film.
Feig will produce with partner Laura Fischer, as well as with Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman and Sweeney through her Fifty-Fifty Films banner. Hidden Pictures’ Carly Elter and Alex Young will executive produce. Fifty Fifty’s Kaylee McGregor will co-produce.
Chelsea Kujawa and Maria Ascanio are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
Erin Westerman, president, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said, “It is a privilege to bring The Housemaid’s next chapter to the screen with Kirsten Dunst. She is an icon. Her career reflects extraordinary range and fearlessness. Opposite the ever-magnetic Sydney Sweeney, she will be an electrifying force in a world where nothing is ever quite as it seems.”
Dunst, repped by UTA, Entertainment 360 and Hansen Jacobson, was most recently seen in the Paramount dramedy The Roofman. She is set for the sequel to A Minecraft Movie and Ruben Östlund’s latest feature The Entertainment System Is Down.
