Joseph J. Collins, a longtime cable executive who helped transform the industry into a cornerstone of the modern internet economy, died April 2 at his home in Weekapaug, Rhode Island. He was 81.
Over a decades-long career, Collins played a key role in reshaping cable from a television delivery system into infrastructure capable of supporting broadband and digital services. He held senior leadership roles across major media and telecommunications companies, including HBO, Time Warner Cable and Comcast.
