“Project Hail Mary” is officially Amazon MGM‘s highest-grossing film ever.
The space odyssey has grossed $300.8 million globally after earning another $54.1 million from 86 markets this weekend. That easily tops the $276 million worldwide gross of 2023’s “Creed III,” which had previously been the company’s top earner (Amazon acquired MGM in 2022 for $8.5 billion).
“Project Hail Mary” stars Ryan Gosling as a high school teacher enlisted to save the world. It did particularly well this weekend in the United Kingdom ($6.3 million), China ($7.7 million), Australia ($3.8 million), South Korea ($3.3 million) and Germany ($3.4 million). Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed the film, which is based on a novel by Andy Weir. It carries a production budget of $200 million.
