Sydney Sweeney is set to headline 'Hollow,' a new film adaptation based on the upcoming debut novel by director Lindsey Anderson Beer. The project serves as a modern, genre-bending reimagining of Washington Irving’s classic 1820 short story, 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.' Anderson Beer, who previously directed 'Pet Sematary: Bloodlines,' will both write and helm the film, which is being positioned as a gothic, erotic thriller.

In this iteration, Sweeney will portray Katrina Van Tassel, shifting the narrative focus to her role within the iconic supernatural love triangle involving Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones. The film is being produced by LuckyChap, alongside Beer’s production banner, Brew Lab, and Sweeney’s own newly established company, Honey Trap. The project is currently being prepared for a studio shopping phase, following the novel's preemptive acquisition by Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

This project highlights Sweeney’s growing influence as both an actress and a producer in Hollywood. Following the massive commercial success of 'The Housemaid,' which grossed over $400 million globally, Sweeney has demonstrated a strong ability to anchor high-profile genre films. By securing a lead role in a project that blends classic literary IP with a modern, stylized aesthetic, Sweeney is further solidifying her status as a bankable star capable of driving both creative development and box office performance. The collaboration with LuckyChap and the strategic timing of the film’s development suggest a high-priority effort to capitalize on the enduring appeal of gothic horror.
