Tiffany Henyard, the former mayor of Dolton, Ill., is running as the lone Republican in the Fulton County Commission race to represent southern portions of the county in District 5. She has four Democratic opponents. Henyard was the first woman to serve as mayor of the Chicago suburb and first woman to serve as supervisor of Thornton Township.  But her tenure as mayor was plagued with scandal, and she faced constant criticism including being labeled the “worst mayor” in the country .  Upon leaving the helm of local leadership in Dolton, a financial investigation revealed the municipality’s bank account was in a $3.6 million deficit, according to Fox News Digital . Henyard’s office was also behind financial reports submitted to the state annually.  She’s not facing any charges currently but is under federal investigation for her handling of taxpayer money while serving as the Thornton Township supervisor. Henyard reportedly took trips to Las Vegas and was ordered to pay her previous landlord $10,000 for failing to pay rent in addition to damaging the property while serving as mayor, WGN 9 reported . 2024 Election Coverage 2024 Election News 2024 Election Polling Data 2024 Presidential Election Forecast She lost reelection bids in Illinois for mayor and township supervisor. Two days after losing her mayoral bid in 2025, she registered to vote in Georgia, according to WGN 9. Her campaign in Georgia may be short-lived, as county records show she hasn’t lived in the area for more than a year, which is a requirement for candidacy. Henyard’s campaign did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.
