by Larry FitzmauriceBuzzFeedBuzzFeed StaffI'm a writer and editor who lives in Brooklyn, New York, and I've written for a variety of publications across the last 20 years, including The New York Times, The Guardian, GQ, New York Magazine, Pitchfork, The Fader—the list goes on.

Elle Fanning is, obviously, having a bit of a moment in the broader cultural sense. Case in point: She just garnered a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance in last year's Sentimental Value.

Her next role is in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Margo's Got Money Troubles, which premieres April 15 on the streaming service. The show's based on the 2024 novel from Rufi Thorpe, in which the titular Margo starts an OnlyFans after getting pregnant.

In a recent interview with People, Elle talked about how she prepared for the role itself — and part of her prep included using an OnlyFans account for herself. If you think that means something highly specific, though, best to read on.

“There were a lot of things,” she told the publication in regards to preparing for the role. “Obviously, I am an Instagram user and a TikTok user. I got to look at that."

"Also, we had to dive into OnlyFans a little bit. We did create an account for the writer's room, and for me, so I could check out how the website is.”

And in case you were wondering whether having multiple people in the workplace looking at OnlyFans is an HR nightmare waiting to happen, executive producer Eva Anderson is well ahead of you.

“There was a lot of looking at OnlyFans with the writers, but we all gave consent to each other before we did it,” Eva said. “We were very responsible and we just tried to get as much information as we could before we started.”
