I Tried The Burger King Mandalorian Meal: Review

Hello there, Star Wars fans, Burger King lovers, and curious cats alike! My name is Dannica, and I'm no stranger to trying fun, fast-food collaboration meals. A little under half a year ago, I tried Burger King's SpongeBob-inspired Bikini Bottom Bundle, and now I'm back in the BK drive-thru to try another collaboration meal with none other than...Star Wars!

Well, more specifically, the Mandalorian! Yes, you read that right. To celebrate the upcoming release of The Mandalorian and Grogu on May 22, the BK is releasing a limited-time Mandalorian-inspired menu that's available nationwide starting on the day that makes the most sense: May the Fourth. There are four themed menu items available, but if you want to try everything at the same time as I did, you can try the Bounty Bundle, which is $19.99 before tax. (Also, if you get the Bounty Bundle, you automatically receive one out of four collectible cups!)
Here are the Mandalorian-inspired food items (aka what's included in the bundle):
• BBQ Bounty Whopper
• Grogu's Blue Cookie Shake
• Grogu's Garlic Chicken Fries
• Imperial Cheddar Ranch Tots
(There's also a Mandalorian and Grogu King Jr. Meal, which comes with a toy.)
Well, I won't keep y'all waiting, so...PUNCH IT!

The second it was no longer breakfast time, I hopped in the car and made my way over to the local BK. Not gonna lie, unless there's an awesome collab like this one, I rarely find myself at the Burger King drive-thru simply because it's nearly 15 minutes away. That said, my last impression of the fast-food chain was based on the SpongeBob collab, which I absolutely loved, so I was actually pretty excited to see what they had cookin' up this time around. Before I knew it, the Bounty Bundle box was in my hands.

First of all, let's take a moment to admire just how cute the box is:

But WAIT! Before I headed back home, I wanted to try the shake before it had the chance to melt on me on the drive. So before we even get to any food...
Dannica Ramirez
This blue shake is made up of soft serve blended with sugar cookie syrup and topped with blue-tinted sugar cookies, all served in the cutest cup known in the entire galaxy. And let me be the first to tell ya...this thing is GOOD.

Any form of a cookie shake is gonna do it for me, but this shake was creamy, had a decent amount of the sugar cookie crumbles, and wasn't SO sweet that I could only take a couple of sips and be done with it. My sister said it tasted like cake batter frozen yogurt, if that comparison helps you visualize the taste more. Overall, though, I thought it was a delicious sweet treat, and would 100% get it again.

OK, once I got home, I was more than ready to unpack and see what the Bounty Bundle had to offer. Before we dive into each individual item, here's the spread:

But also, for fun, here's me wearing the Mandalorian-themed crown:

Similar to my SpongeBob meal taste test, I started off with the tots. I had a feeling they were gonna be somewhat similar, so I kinda knew what to expect.
Dannica Ramirez
I blame the drive, but the tots weren't the crispiest or the hottest by the time I got to them. However, each one was filled with small chunks of potato and bits of melted cheese, all brought together with ranch seasoning. I couldn't really taste the cheese all that much, though, and I had to really pinpoint the ranch seasoning flavor. I honestly wish it had come with a sauce or something to add a little more depth. I wonder if there's a drastic difference in taste when you eat them right away versus waiting a bit, but alas. The tots weren't bad, but I think I would've just enjoyed a regular french fry moment instead!

🥔 IMPERIAL CHEDDAR RANCH TOTS: 3/5.
Standalone price for an 8-piece: $2.99.

I know BK is known for its chicken fries (are they known for them or just known for having them?), but this was the first time I ever tried such a thing!

That said, I expected them to be crispy, meaty, and well-seasoned. And, well, they pretty much weren't. The chicken fry itself had a nice, subtle garlicky and salty flavor, but I love garlic and wanted it to be bolder and in-your-face. I also couldn't really taste the Parmesan that the coating is seasoned with. The breading wasn't super crispy (again, maybe it was the drive?), and I just think I would rather just eat a chicken nugget than a chicken fry?! I think the chicken fries were also supposed to come with a garlic sauce, but I didn't get any, which was a bummer, because I think the sauce would
