There’s a good chance you’re already familiar with Hulu’s buzziest shows— Only Murders in the Building , The Bear , and The Handmaid’s Tale among them. Those are all good shows—great, even!—but there are others that are just as good, and some that are even better. Like Netflix and HBO Max , Hulu has been developing its own original (and co-produced) shows since 2012, building a library that goes well beyond repackaged shows from the broadcast networks. A Thousand Blows (2025 – ) A spiritual follow-up to Peaky Blinders from that show's creator, Steven Knight, this one goes back a bit further, to the 1880s, during which an all-female crime syndicate is running London's East End. True story! Erin Doherty stars as Mary Carr, leader of the Forty Elephants crew, specializing in shoplifting and confidence schemes. In A Thousand Blows , Mary and her gang come up against Stephen Graham's Henry "Sugar" Goodson (another real-world antihero), running an illicit bare-knuckle boxing organization. Coming between them is Hezekiah Moscow (Malachi Kirby), a recently arrived Jamaican immigrant who introduces us to this gritty world and its competing factions. The show started as a Disney+ original before getting picked up by Hulu, which is deeply confusing in that I thought they were the same thing now—but who can keep track, honestly. The plane is subsequently hijacked by the Revolutionary Army, and Ki-tae subdues some of the terrorists before revealing that he's carrying significant quantities of drugs that they might find valuable. But he knows how to deal with them because of his background as an operative of Korea's Central Intelligence Agency. So, is he a businessman, a self-interested drug-runner, or an intelligence operative? Why can't he be all of them? Bits of real history ground the addictive drama. Stream Made in Korea. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette are having an improbable moment, a quarter-century after their deaths, with multiple documentaries in addition to this new show; we're wistful, perhaps, for an era of less overtly threatening Kennedys. Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon star in this Ryan Murphy joint that explores their whirlwind courtship, subsequent relationship, and then their deaths in a plane crash somewhere near Martha's Vineyard, all under the intense gaze of American tabloid media. Think of it as The Crown for a country that, allegedly, has no royalty. Stream Love Story . That's just the math of modern streaming. So here's another from the latter (and we're still not gonna be done with him on this list), joined by Glee 's Matthew Hodgson: This body-horror series opens with Bella Hadid's supermodel character Ruby walking a runway before going absolutely nuts over a bottle of water, the scene ending in a very literal bloodbath. It seems that there's a hot new beauty treatment, and, rather handily, its benefits are sexually transmitted. All well and good unless you saw that opening scene, what with the side effects and all. Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, Rebecca Hall, and Ashton Kutcher all star in the series that's rather suspiciously Substance -esque, except that it's based on a comic book series that's even older. The next? He's fumbled a touchdown and later shoved a fan into a cancer patient using a wheelchair. Not great! Eight years later, he's looking for a comeback and so, shades of Mrs. Doubtfire , he reinvents himself via prosthetics and a wig as the title's Chad Powers, a charmingly naive athlete who signs on to the football team at a tiny Georgia college (and who looks a little like Owen Wilson for some reason). It's a goofy premise, but Powell's performance sells it, and the show becomes more engaging as Russ/Chad is forced to ask himself whether this new persona is a con, or the person he'd like to be.
