In honor of Earth Day on April 22, non-partisan nonprofit Environmental Working Group is teaming up with Mika Brzezinski and her Know Your Value platform for an Earth Day Dinner.

The 16th annual event, set for the 22nd at Skirball Cultural Center, serves to amplify the organization’s message of supporting health, women and communities through science and clean environmental practice. Hilary Swank will be the dinner’s special honoree, receiving the Environmental Working Group Changemakers Award in recognition for her role in helping pass California Senate Bill 646, which requires prenatal vitamin manufactures to test for and disclose levels of potentially harmful heavy metals in their products.

“Receiving the EWG Changemaker Award is a profound honor, but the real victory is the progress we’ve made together with California Senate Bill 646. As a mother, I believe every parent deserves the peace of mind that comes with knowing the vitamins they take to support their pregnancy have been tested for the presence of heavy metals,” Swank said in a statement. “Our health is our greatest asset, and I am proud to stand with EWG and HealthyBaby to ensure that no woman is left in the dark about what she is putting into her body. When we demand better standards, we aren’t just protecting ourselves, we are protecting the next generation.”

The gathering will bring together leading voices in the environmental and women’s health movement, including Miranda Kerr, who will speak about her holistic health journey and mission behind her brand Kora Organics. Erin Foster will also participate in an “Engaging the Next Generation” panel alongside Brzezinski and daughter Emilie Hoffer, for a conversation about environmental health issues.

“I’m grateful to partner with the Environmental Working Group and Know Your Value to highlight the importance of clean living and making informed choices about our health. We share a commitment to transparency and empowering people with accessible information,” Kerr said. “From day one, my focus with Kora Organics has been on going a step further by creating certified organic, results-driven skincare people can trust for themselves and their families. We follow strict third-party standards to ensure our products are made without unnecessary chemicals while still delivering visible results. When we prioritize our health and the environment, we’re making conscious choices that support long-term well-being and help shape a healthier future for all.”

Foster added, “I’ve always felt a deep responsibility to speak up about environmental health, but the conversation changes when you realize how much our personal health is tied to the products we use every day. I’m thrilled to be part of the ‘Engaging the Next Generation’ panel to discuss how we can all become more conscious consumers and fierce advocates for a toxic-free future.”

Since 1993, the Environmental Working Group has shined a spotlight on outdated legislation, harmful agricultural practices and industry loopholes that pose a risk to human and environmental health, with a focus on food and water, farming and agriculture, energy, toxic chemicals in everyday consumer products and various regional issues.

“Bringing together such influential voices like Hilary, Mika, Miranda and Erin allows us to amplify our message far beyond the lab. This partnership highlights that environmental health isn’t just a policy issue — it’s a personal one,” Jocelyn Lyle, EWG executive vp of mission and partnerships, said. “We are proud to celebrate 16 years of progress alongside women who are truly changing the world by knowing their value and protecting our planet.”

Morning Joe broadcaster Brzezinski also commented, “At Know Your Value, we empower women to recognize their worth in every room they walk into. Partnering with EWG for Earth Day is a natural extension of that mission—because knowing your value starts with taking ownership of your health and the environment your family lives in. We want the next generation to lead with confidence and the clarity that comes from a healthy lifestyle
