Owen Cooper's Height Difference Since "Adolescence"

If it feels like Adolescence came out a really long time ago, that's because it did — it's been well over a year!

And if we needed any more confirmation of how much time has passed, it appears Owen Cooper, the show's breakout child actor, has changed quite a bit since he first came onto our screens in 2025.

For context, Owen had no professional acting experience when, at just 14 years old, he starred in the Netflix series as Jamie Miller, a British schoolboy accused of murdering his classmate.

The UK crime drama has had a seriously impressive awards run, not least for Owen, who took home every single major television award available for a single performance. And for his first-ever acting gig?! Truly incredible stuff.

Owen completed the historic awards sweep yesterday at the BAFTA TV awards in London, where he was joined on the red carpet by his on-screen parents, Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters.

As the co-stars posed for pictures on the red carpet, people were left stunned by how much taller 16-year-old Owen appears to have gotten in the past year. (For context, Stephen is 5 feet 6 inches tall, and it looks like he was quite stunned by the difference, too!)

People compared pictures of Owen and Stephen standing next to each other when Adolescence first came out nearly 14 months ago. And I have to say, the change is pretty noticeable. This particular picture is from May 2025.

And this one is from the actual show, where you can see that Stephen and Owen were roughly the same height, with Stephen maybe having the edge on him.

He certainly wouldn't be the first teenager to have an overnight growth spurt, but the X posts about it are pretty funny.
