Asana Acquires StackAI to Bolster AI-Driven Workflow Automation

Asana has announced the acquisition of workflow automation startup StackAI for $75 million, a strategic move aimed at accelerating its transition into an AI-native workplace platform. By integrating StackAI’s technology, Asana intends to enhance its ability to build sophisticated, autonomous agents capable of managing complex business processes. As part of the deal, StackAI founders Tony Rosinol and Bernard Aceituno will join the Asana team to help drive this vision forward.

StackAI, a graduate of Y Combinator’s Winter 2023 cohort, specializes in building no-code agents that interface with enterprise software such as Salesforce, Slack, and Google Workspace. This acquisition provides Asana with the technical infrastructure to deepen its existing AI offerings, specifically its 'AI Studio' and 'AI Teammates' products. By embedding these capabilities directly into its work management ecosystem, Asana aims to differentiate itself from general-purpose AI labs by leveraging the proprietary context and organizational data already present within its platform.
