If the famously exacting editor-in-chief couldn’t find a garment in the exact shade she had in mind — say, a cerulean blue as a cheeky nod to one of the original film’s most memorable scenes — what would she do? Have it custom-made, of course.

In Streep’s case, it was J. Crew that had the genius idea of recreating their cashmere crewneck sweater in cerulean for Streep’s Late Show appearance on Wednesday night. Created in collaboration with stylist Micaela Erlanger, the custom design “reimagines cerulean through a modern lens,” the heritage brand said in a press release.
