Media Meghan McCain rips Graham’s call to send ‘children to go possibly die in war’ by Max Rego - 03/10/26 6:38 PM ET by Max Rego - 03/10/26 6:38 PM ET Share ✕ LinkedIn LinkedIn Email Email NOW PLAYING Conservative commentator Meghan McCain on Tuesday slammed Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) for saying that he is asking parents to send their children to war against Iran. “Nothing like a single, childless, septuagenarian telling American mothers to send their children to go possibly die in a war,” McCain, the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), wrote on the social platform X .  Graham made those remarks on Monday, while urging U.S. allies in the Middle East — particularly Saudi Arabia — to “up your game” in the conflict against Iran. “I go back to South Carolina, I’m asking them to send their sons and daughters over to the Middle East,” Graham said on Fox News. “What I want you do in the Middle East, to our friends in Saudi Arabia and other places, step forward and say, ‘This is my fight too. I join America. I’m publicly involved in bringing this regime down.’ “If you don’t, you’re making a great mistake and you’re going to cut off the ability to have a better relationship with the United States. I say this as a friend.” Graham, a vocal cheerleader of the U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran, was met with pushback from segments of the GOP. Seven U.S. service members have so far died from Iranian retaliation.  Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), who is running for governor, wrote Tuesday morning on X , “What in the world would possess anyone to say this?” regarding Graham’s remarks.  “I do not want to send South Carolina’s sons and daughters into war with Iran,” Mace wrote on X later in the morning. Other conservatives, including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) and former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, have criticized Graham for his interventionist rhetoric. In recent days, Graham has threatened the governments of Lebanon, Cuba and Spain, while the Wall Street Journal reported last week that Graham instructed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on how to convince President Trump to authorize military action against Iran. “There are some in the Senate that advocate for war everywhere. Lindsey Graham is one of them,” Luna wrote Monday on X . “He does NOT tell the President what to do, nor does he control Congress. I have spoken with the administration a number of times, as well as other members of Congress over the last week or so, and nothing has changed regarding boots on the ground.  “NO BOOTS on the ground. If Senator Graham wants to go fight in a foreign conflict, let him be the first to volunteer.” Add as preferred source on Google Tags Anna Paulina Luna Benjamin Netanyahu Donald Trump John McCain Lindsey Graham Meghan McCain Megyn Kelly Nancy Mace Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media Inc.
