Poland has a flourishing economy, but its science funding is at an unprecedented low — only 1.1% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is spent on science and higher education. This is in striking contrast to the pledges made by the Polish government, which proposed the Warsaw Declaration that calls for robust investment in research and innovation (R&I) across the European Union.
