While normal people were trying to enjoy their Sunday, President Donald Trump spent his Easter threatening Iran.

Then, on Tuesday morning, he escalated his threats, writing on Truth Social, "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again." Trump gave Iran until 8 p.m. Eastern time to open the Strait of Hormuz.

As Trump's primetime deadline drew near on Tuesday evening, he issued an update via Truth Social, announcing a two-week ceasefire in Iran contingent on the Strait of Hormuz being open.

In his Tuesday night monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jimmy noticed something about Trump's latest announcement that sounds verrrrrry familiar.

Jimmy started his monologue by saying, "It's another crazy day here in the United States of America. Probably the most dangerous episode of the Celebrity President yet. Today it was D-Day. In this case, the D stands for dementia, but it was D-Day today."

He summarized the situation, then continued, saying, "So all day today, everyone, most notably the people of Iran, were wondering if their civilization was going to die tonight. Well, good news, it didn't. It was the taco Tuesday of all taco Tuesdays as our president decided not to drop the chalupa for at least another two weeks."

"This is how it goes every single time Trump says something insane. He says, 'I'm going to kill everyone tomorrow at 5 p.m.' We all freak out. And then he backs down. He's like, 'You know what? Actually, I'll kill everyone in two weeks.' And then we relax, and he forgets he ever said it in the first place. He has the memory and the skin color of a goldfish."

Jimmy said, "It's always two weeks. He's like a conscientious employee. He always gives two weeks' notice."

Then, Jimmy rolled a supercut showing Trump saying something would happen in two weeks, as he has done many times over the years.

Because this particular Trumpism has been driving me up the wall for years, here are a few more. Way back in 2020, Trump said that his healthcare plan was just two weeks away. Trump still only had "concepts of a plan" during the 2024 presidential debate. He did not release a proposal for his healthcare plan until early 2026, and he has yet to sign it into law.

Last June, Trump promised to have a deal finalized with TikTok, determining whether the company could continue operating in the US. The deal was not finalized until January 2026.

Last August, he said that the war in Gaza would come to "a pretty good conclusive ending" in two to three weeks. The war is still ongoing.

In January of this year, Trump promised to reveal details of his Greenland plan in two weeks. Though the United States was reportedly negotiating with Denmark last week, details of the plan remain publicly unavailable.

And last summer, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that Trump would make a decision on military action in Iran in two weeks. A reporter actually called her out on this, and in response, she blamed it all on Joe Biden.
