Martin Moszkowicz Appointed President of Zurich Film Festival
The Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) has appointed veteran German producer Martin Moszkowicz as its new President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective July 1. Moszkowicz, who recently concluded a decade-long tenure as chairman of Constantin Film, succeeds outgoing president Doris Fiala. His appointment is part of a broader strategic effort to elevate the festival’s international profile and solidify its standing within the global film industry.
Moszkowicz brings decades of experience to the role, having been instrumental in the success of major international projects like the 'Resident Evil' franchise and critically acclaimed German productions such as 'Downfall.' ZFF CEO Christian Jungen emphasized that Moszkowicz’s deep ties to the Munich and Los Angeles film markets make him uniquely qualified to bridge the gap between European cinema and the American awards season. By leveraging his extensive industry network, the festival aims to transform into a more globally recognized brand.
This leadership transition signals a clear ambition for the ZFF to expand its influence, particularly through its industry-focused event, the Zurich Summit. Moszkowicz has identified the summit as a key growth area, aiming to further develop it as a premier platform for global film business discourse. As the festival prepares for its 2026 edition, the inclusion of industry veterans like Claudia Lässer and Sabine Boss on the board suggests a concerted effort to balance creative vision with commercial expertise, positioning the ZFF as a critical player in the international festival circuit.
