Bring Me the Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes was struck by a phone thrown at him on-stage during a Monday night concert, with the singer revealing he has suffered a mild concussion from the hit.

Sykes took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday to address the incident after a video of him being struck by an object stirred up online.

“Alright everyone — just wanted to let you know I’m all good,” he wrote. “The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling’s gone down a decent amount already.”

The “Can You Feel My Heart” singer explained that he was “struggling” during the remainder of the performance after he was hit, issuing an apology to audience members. He wrote. “Last night I was struggling a bit on stage afterwards because signing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing, so I’m sorry on my part for what may of seemed like a half hearted performance.”

“Appreciate everyone checking in and worrying about me though,” Sykes concluded the post. “Everything should be fine for tonight gig.”

Sykes’ on-stage striking mirrors that off an unattractive trend that has plagued the live event space; that of fans throwing objects at talent while they are performing on-stage. Kelly Clarkson, Bebe Rexha, Ava Max, Drake, Kelsea Ballerini, Harry Styles and Billie Eilish are a few artists who have been subject to such disturbing attacks from concertgoers over the past few years.

During a 2023 show at her Las Vegas residency, Adele addressed the fad. “Have you noticed how people are, like, forgetting fucking show etiquette in America?” The “Someone Like You” singer said to her crowd at the time. “They’re just throwing shit onstage.”
