It seems Sydney Sweeney's Euphoria character, Cassie, is leaning into the "MAGA Barbie" allegations that the actress has faced in real life.

For some background, speculation regarding Sweeney's political views began after she appeared in a controversial American Eagle campaign last year, and it was then confirmed by BuzzFeed that she is a registered Republican.

“Genes are passed down from parent to offspring, often determining traits like eye color, personality, and even hair color. My jeans are blue," Sweeney said in the ad — a line many critics argued carried racist undertones and implicitly glorified whiteness.
Criticism intensified when White House communications manager Steven Cheung took to X to defend the ad....

...and President Donald Trump followed suit on Truth Social, calling it "the 'HOTTEST' ad out there."

Sweeney later addressed the political backlash in an interview with GQ, saying, “I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear." Well, in the most recent episode of Euphoria, Sweeney's character, Cassie, certainly had some things to say on the matter.

This season's storyline follows Cassie as she finds internet fame on OnlyFans, prompting her to go on a podcast press tour. A montage of Cassie's media appearances shows her spewing manosphere-esque comments about men in society.

For example, she declares that American men are "treated like second-class citizens," and that "If a man today were to say that he wants a girlfriend that could cook or clean, he might as well be screaming the N-word." The most pointed political commentary comes in the next clip, where an off-screen voice says, "Well, you sound like a Democrat." Cassie fires back with a devious chuckle and says, "I'm not ret*rded."

Perhaps because she's able to just be herself?

Of course, Sweeney is playing a fictional character on Euphoria, and the scene reflects the show’s script — not necessarily her real-life beliefs. But many people online said that something about this scene felt...eerily natural.

All in all, pretty much everyone is making the same joke about Cassie's politically-charged monologue:
