Skoda Expands EV Portfolio with Upcoming Flagship SUV
Škoda is set to broaden its electric vehicle lineup by moving beyond its reputation for budget-friendly models. While the brand is currently enjoying success with the affordable Elroq and the upcoming entry-level Epiq, it is now preparing to launch a large, three-row electric SUV, tentatively named the Peaq. This new model will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, positioning it as the largest and most premium vehicle in the manufacturer's history.
Drawing design inspiration from the Vision 7S concept, the Peaq is expected to measure over 16 feet in length, offering a seven-seat configuration that targets families seeking space and utility. While technical specifications remain under wraps, the vehicle is anticipated to feature a high-capacity battery—potentially reaching 89 kWh—to support its larger frame. By utilizing the proven MEB architecture, Škoda aims to deliver a refined, minimalist aesthetic that distances the model from the rugged, off-road styling cues seen in the smaller Epiq.
This strategic move marks a significant shift for Škoda as it ventures into a higher market segment, potentially competing with sub-premium brands like Volvo. While the Peaq will undoubtedly be the most expensive vehicle the company has ever produced, the brand is betting on the continued success of its high-end offerings. The transition suggests that Škoda is confident its customer base is ready to embrace a more sophisticated, premium electric experience, signaling a new chapter in the company's evolution within the competitive European EV market.
