Screenwriter William Yu has signed with Buchwald for representation, Variety has learned exclusively. Yu continues to be repped by Bellevue and Jackoway Austen.

Yu recently worked on the Peacock series adaptation of the movie “The Burbs,” to which he will return as executive story editor for the show’s recently announced second season.

He is not a stranger to working at Peacock and NBCUniversal, as he was also a writer on the limited series “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” starring Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, and Don Cheadle. He previously staffed on the NBC medical drama “Brilliant Minds” starring Zachary Quinto.

On the feature side, Yu wrote the rom-com “It Was You,” which was featured on the Black List with “Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon M. Chu attached to produce. He is also currently at work on a feature for Korean studio CJ ENM.

Yu got his start as an advertising strategist. He left that job after creating the viral social media project #StarringJohnCho, where he would photoshop Cho’s face onto hit movie posters. The project was covered by outlets include The New York Times, BBC, and CNN, sparking conversation about Asian representation in Hollywood.
