Former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), who had a brief but notable stint in Congress in 2023, said he is becoming a parent for the first time.

“So, we are having kids next year, and that’s a big deal for us,” Santos said on Meghan McCain’s livestreamed show “Citizen McCain.”

“We’re going to be parents next year, and we’re excited about all the preparations of, like, you know, making sure we have everything set up. And, you know, college funds and, I mean, rainy day fund, like, all of that stuff, right?” Santos added later.

“But most importantly is, how we’re going to educate our kids. And this is a conversation we’re having now. And we’re — kids aren’t even born.”

Santos has previously talked about having a child, telling comedian Ziwe in an interview released in 2023 that he would “have a child and I will accept my kid in any way, shape or form they come, and the best I can do is teach my child to be better than me.”

The former congressman was previously sentenced to a seven-year prison term after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, and reported to prison last July. Santos was expelled from Congress after it was revealed that he fabricated most of his resume and campaign finance reports.

In October, President Trump said he had granted Santos a commutation of his sentence, with Santos’s attorney saying he was released from prison shortly after.
