The CoPro Foundation has announced the lineup for its 28th annual documentary co-production market, scheduled for June 8-12 in Tel Aviv. The event will host over 70 international industry professionals, including distributors and broadcasters, to review more than 40 Israeli documentary projects. Through a series of pitching sessions and screenings, the market aims to facilitate global partnerships for independent filmmakers navigating a complex social and political landscape.

This year’s selection is heavily defined by the current geopolitical climate, with many projects exploring themes of war, democracy, and coexistence. Notable titles such as 'The Future is Peace' and 'Point of No Return: Israel at the Crossroads of Democracy' directly engage with the ongoing tensions in the region and the internal political struggles of the Israeli government. Other films, including 'Dugri' and 'Women of Peace,' seek to highlight personal narratives of reconciliation, emphasizing the role of documentary cinema in fostering empathy amidst deep-seated polarization.

Beyond regional politics, the lineup features a diverse array of character-driven stories, ranging from the world of competitive motorcycle racing to the life of singer Esther Ofarim. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to female-centric narratives, covering topics from the experiences of female soldiers to the complexities of modern digital fame. Additionally, the market will host investigative projects, such as 'The Plot Against the West,' which examines the intersection of international disinformation campaigns and contemporary social movements.

By providing a platform for these varied voices, CoPro continues to serve as a vital bridge between Israeli creators and the international market. Executive Director Pnina Halfon Lang noted that in an era of global uncertainty, the festival remains committed to supporting nuanced storytelling that challenges audiences to look beyond headlines. For the global film industry, this event serves as a critical barometer for how independent creators are documenting the evolving realities of the Middle East and beyond.
