LIVE UPDATES Administration Live updates: Talarico prevails over Crockett in Texas; Hegseth slams media over Iran coverage by The Hill Staff - 03/04/26 11:38 AM ET by The Hill Staff - 03/04/26 11:38 AM ET Share ✕ LinkedIn LinkedIn Email Email Democrat James Talarico prevailed in a Senate Democratic primary in Texas on Tuesday over Rep. Jasmine Crockett, delivering the party a candidate many had seen as the stronger general election choice. On the GOP side, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and state Attorney General Ken Paxton are headed to a May runoff after no candidate won 50 percent of the vote. Expect much fallout Wednesday from the results in Texas, North Carolina and other states. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Dan Caine briefed reporters Wednesday morning on U.S. strikes in Iran, with Caine saying more bombing is on the way. Hegseth also bashed media outlets for highlighting the deaths of six U.S. service members killed in an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait as part of Washington’s strikes on Iran. Partisan divisions over how to respond to the Iran strikes are likely to give President Trump more room to continue the military operation — as Democrats’ push for a vote on the war powers resolution in the Senate has yet to pick up GOP support beyond Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.). The upper chamber is set to vote on the measure later Wednesday. Some Republicans have also pushed back on descriptions of the effort as a war. Elsewhere, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and state Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) are testifying in front of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the state’s fraud scandal, with both defending their response. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is also testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, a day after a fiery hearing in the Senate. Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, pressed the secretary to apologize to the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, both of whom were fatally shot by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis in January. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters at 1 p.m. and President Trump will participate in a roundtable around 3 p.m. EST. Follow live below.
