Los Angeles-based startup Evotrex has raised $30 million in Series A funding to accelerate the production of its hybrid recreational vehicles. With a total of $46 million raised to date, the company plans to bring its PG5 travel trailer to market next year, targeting an annual production volume of 1,000 units. The funding round, supported by a consortium of international investors and consumer electronics firm Anker, provides the necessary capital to transition from prototype development to full-scale manufacturing and rigorous durability testing.

Unlike competitors such as Lightship and Pebble, which are focusing on all-electric models, Evotrex is betting on an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) architecture. By integrating a battery pack with an onboard gas-powered generator, the company aims to solve the 'range anxiety' and power limitations that currently hinder off-grid living in all-electric RVs. This hybrid approach is designed to provide users with true independence from charging infrastructure, a feature that has already generated significant interest, with 90% of current pre-orders opting for the premium $160,000 trim.

The RV market is currently in a state of flux, as legacy manufacturers like Thor and Winnebago struggle to move electric concepts from testing phases to consumer availability. Evotrex is attempting to capitalize on this gap by prioritizing product reliability and customer support over rapid sales growth. By hiring service personnel well ahead of sales staff and focusing on a strategy of customer-led advocacy, the startup hopes to navigate the complex mechanical demands of the RV industry. As it prepares for production in China with final assembly in California, Evotrex’s success will depend on its ability to balance innovative hybrid technology with the logistical challenges of international supply chains and long-term vehicle durability.
