The Indonesian horror film 'Korean Haunted Hospital' is set to make its world debut at the 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan). Directed by Anggy Umbara and written by Lele Laila, the project is a collaboration between production houses MD Pictures and Umbara Brothers Film. Following its festival screening in the Signature section on July 9, the film is scheduled for a domestic release in Indonesia under the title '402: Rumah Sakit Angker Korea.'

This production serves as an official remake of the 2018 South Korean found-footage hit 'Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.' The original film was a significant success in the horror genre, known for its immersive, terrifying portrayal of a psychiatric hospital. By adapting this specific title, the Indonesian production team is tapping into a proven narrative framework that has already demonstrated strong cross-cultural appeal within the Asian horror market.

The selection of this film for the BiFan Signature section highlights the growing trend of cross-border intellectual property adaptations in the horror genre. As Southeast Asian cinema continues to gain international recognition for its distinct storytelling, remaking established Korean horror hits allows studios to bridge regional audiences while leveraging the global popularity of the 'K-horror' aesthetic. This premiere serves as a strategic move for MD Pictures to showcase its production capabilities on a prestigious international stage, potentially paving the way for further regional collaborations.
