by Larry FitzmauriceBuzzFeedBuzzFeed StaffI'm a writer and editor who lives in Brooklyn, New York, and I've written for a variety of publications across the last 20 years, including The New York Times, The Guardian, GQ, New York Magazine, Pitchfork, The Fader—the list goes on.

By now, you're likely more than familiar with the fact that acclaimed director Christopher Nolan's new film is an adaptation of Homer's legendary tale The Odyssey. Odds are, you're actually pretty stoked to see it!

You might also know that thee Lupita Nyong'oe is set to star in the film in not one, but two roles — specifically, Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra.

In Greek mythology, Helen of Troy is often referred to as the most beautiful woman in the world — so, lining that up with Lupita's casting, yeah, zero notes, right? And yet: For months, some of the worst people on the internet cannot shut up about their grievances when it comes to her casting...

And this guy has been one of the loudest (of course) voices of them all. Yes, depending on how blissfully offline you may or may not be, perhaps you are just learning now that one of the many questionable topics Elon Musk is almost constantly tweeting about is Lupita's casting in The Odyssey.

An example, if you will: After one whiny X user said that Lupita's casting represents "admissions that the story was never the point and an insult to the author," Elon replied, "Chris Nolan has lost his integrity."

This is, somewhat improbably, where Alec Baldwin comes in.

In a response on IG, Alec shared a photo of Lupita with the caption, "Dear Elon… but she IS the most beautiful woman in the world…Alec".

This is where I'd usually share a smattering of comments on Alec's page in support of what he said — but, honestly, this time around they're a nightmare, so I'd rather not. If you're curious and want to look at them yourself, go with God. In the meantime, watch the trailer for The Odyssey below:
