Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) on Friday entertained the idea of a partnership with former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, commending the Republican for speaking out against President Trump’s threats against Iran.

“As a human being and as an American citizen, I am relieved that Donald Trump has accepted a ceasefire and withdrawn his threat to destroy Iranian civilization,” Khanna said in a video posted on social platform X. “But let’s be clear, this did not happen because of Congress, which barely made a whimper.”

The lawmaker continued, “This happened because of the force of the American people, not just progressives and liberals, but conservatives like Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene and even Ann Coulter spoke out against the horror of threatening genocide against another people.”

“This tells me one thing: the only thing that will save this country, the only thing that will save our democracy, is a broad populist social movement, anti-Epstein class, anti-war, pro-working class,” he added.

Greene, once a close ally of President Trump and staunch advocate for the MAGA agenda, has distanced herself from the Republican Party in the past few months.

After Trump threatened earlier this week that “a whole civilization will die tonight” unless Tehran met U.S. demands, Greene joined calls for the Trump to be removed from office under the 25th amendment.

The former lawmaker, who resigned from Congress in January following the rift with Trump, responded to Khanna’s post by offering to “come together” and form a bipartisan coalition.

“This is likely the only way to break free of the corrupt system from both sides that controls everything, constantly goes to war, and only enriches themselves while average Americans continue to lose,” she wrote on X. “It’s definitely worth starting the conversation.”

Khanna thanked Greene for her “kind words” and praised his former colleague for her criticism of Trump’s moves in Iran and advocacy in pushing for the Justice Department to release its files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The pair, along with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), worked together on a bipartisan effort to pass the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

“Spirited debate is what this nation is about,” he wrote in response.

“Look forward to a dialogue on how to stop the militarism of foreign wars of choice, hold the Epstein class accountable, and actually deliver for the millions of working class Americans who built our nation,” Khanna continued. “I am game.”

The California Democrat has been floated as a potential contender for the 2028 presidential race.

During a conversation with civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday, Khanna cited his focus on cost-of-living concerns and commitment to “a cohesive multiracial democracy” as two issues he could champion in a campaign.
