Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) said Monday that “rapists should be hung” in the wake of Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) recently facing sexual assault allegations, but he insisted he wasn’t talking about the California Democrat.

“Rapists should be hung, period. No questions. And so — now I’m not — I don’t want the Secret Service to come, I’m not talking about Eric Swalwell, I’m not threatening a member of Congress,” Ogles told conservative influencer Benny Johnson on his show when asked about the allegations against Swalwell.

“But the point is, is we got to say enough is enough, we can’t allow this type of behavior,” he added.

On Sunday, Swalwell announced that he was suspending his campaign for Golden State governor, about two days after initial reports alleging that he had sexually assaulted a former staffer on multiple occasions emerged.

A former staffer of Swalwell’s has alleged that the congressman sexually assaulted her twice when she was too intoxicated to give consent, the San Francisco Chronicle first reported. CNN also reported that three additional women had accused Swalwell of sexual misconduct.

Swalwell is also now facing pressure from fellow congressional Democrats to resign from Congress.

In a Sunday post on the social platform X, Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández (D-N.M.) said Swalwell and Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas), who recently confessed to an affair with a staffer who died by suicide, should leave the House.

“Gonzales and Swalwell are not fit to serve in Congress given their sexual transgressions against women who work for them,” she said.

“They should resign or be expelled. There’s already been a resolution announced to expel Swalwell that I will support. I will introduce a resolution to expel Rep. Gonzales,” she added.

The Hill has reached out to Swalwell’s office for comment.
