As a huge film fan, there's something so fascinating about seeing what my favourite films looked like behind the scenes — it truly unlocks a whole new side to Hollywood. So I scoured the internet to find some of the most interesting, rare photos from the classic movies (and TV shows) we all know and love, and whew, they don't disappoint! Here we go:

1.

Since some of the actors in The Breakfast Club were still in high school during filming, they had tutoring sessions on set. Here's a photo of Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall studying with their tutor (they were both around 16 at the time):

This 1961 snapshot from the Cleopatra movie set has a ton of tea behind it. Elizabeth Taylor is sitting on her then-husband Eddie Fisher's lap. Standing next to them is none other than Richard Burton, her costar in the film. And get this: In 1964, Elizabeth left Eddie to marry Richard:

3.

The original Frankenstein film came out in 1931, and the monster was famously played by Boris Karloff. I guess the makeup really was *that* intense, because in this picture, Boris is being fed a piece of cake by a woman on set:

It's not often we see a totally candid image of Marilyn Monroe, especially not from movie sets. This one is from the 1956 romcom Bus Stop. She's busy touching up her makeup before filming a scene, standing next to the camera in a crowd of people:

In this rare, captivating close-up from 1957, we can see Sean Connery getting his fake-blood makeup being touched up for the TV movie version of Requiem for a Heavyweight:

In more recent history, we all remember the adorable and incredible Macaulay Culkin starring in My Girl. Here's a photo of him sitting on camera equipment during filming:

7.

It's always interesting to think about what child actors do on set when filming isn't happening. Here's a photo from the set of To Kill A Mockingbird, where we can see actor Mary Badham playing around with the film's director, Robert Mulligan:

8.

In 1955, James Dean had two major films come out: Rebel Without a Cause, and East of Eden. This picture of him and his girlfriend at the time, Pier Angeli, is from the set of the latter:

9.

The first episode of Full House aired on September 22, 1987, and it was called "Our Very First Show." This photo is from the taping of that episode, and in it, we can see adorable little Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron sitting on the steps, preparing to shoot.

History is totally being made in this image, taken during early production of The Wizard of Oz. Here, we can see producers and directors of the film huddled around some sketches of set designs:

One of the most-iconic TV shows of all time, I Love Lucy, was famously filmed in front of a live studio audience. But I bet you've never seen what it looked like behind the sound stage during filming:

Speaking of Lucille Ball, in addition to I Love Lucy, she was in a ton of films in the 1940s. Here's what she looked like on set of one of those films, gorgeous as ever:

This one kind of broke my brain, as a big fan of '80s TV — here, we can see the legendary show Diff'rent Strokes being filmed on the soundstage:

If you know anything about Jaws, you know that it was a true beast to film, from the mechanics of the shark to the constant water-based scenes. In this image, we can see director Steven Spielberg (second from the left) and crew getting ready to film in the water:

This beautiful shot might just look like your average candid photo, but it's actually of Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood from the set of his film The Bridges of Madison County:

One of my favourite actors of all time is Heath Ledger, so you know I had to include him. In this image from August 2004, he's yawning, walking to the set of Brokeback Mountain. And as a Canadian, I have to shout out that this was taken in Canmore, Alberta:

The Star Wars franchise began with Episode IV: A New Hope, which came out in 1977. Here's a photo of Mark Hamill (who plays Luke) and director George Lucas on the set of that first film:

And ready for another adorable throwback? Here's an image of young Natalie Portman on set of French film Léon, which
