Katz’s Shut Up Evan will air twice a week in different forms: “Deep in the DMs With…” will feature one-on-one chats on Tuesdays, and “The Groupchat” will find Katz on Fridays sitting alongside a rotating panel of celebrity guests to recap the week’s buzziest topics. 32 Flavors is producing.
Katz quipped that it’s an understatement to call it an “honor” to partner with Netflix for the expansion of his show. “As an OG since the red envelope days, there’s no better place to call home,” he told Netflix. “They’ve helped turn a passion project where I once interviewed stars like Cole Escola in my studio apartment — with a microphone I’d forget to connect to my computer — into a full-fledged video podcast. They’ve helped expand the scope beyond the show’s signature deep dive interviews, adding a rotating panel of guests I can’t wait for you to meet, who will be breaking down everything happening across the pop culture universe with me — from TV and film to memes and music, awards shows and events — and maybe even the occasional opera or ballet.”
Katz emerged as a media darling after cutting his teeth as an entertainment journalist analyzing pop culture with a defined take and sense of humor. Followers (and stars) love his meme recaps of films, TV shows and pop culture moments. His resumé also includes companion podcasts for series like The Comeback, Love Story, The Beauty and The White Lotus.
