Carrie Anne Fleming, the Canadian actress known for her roles in horror productions such as “iZombie” and “Supernatural,” died Feb. 26 in Sidney, British Columbia. She was 51.
Jim Beaver, her co-star on “Supernatural,” confirmed Fleming died of breast cancer complications to Variety.
Fleming was born on August 16, 1974, in Digby, Nova Scotia. She later attended Mount Douglas Senior Secondary in Victoria, B.C., and studied drama at the Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Kidco Theatre Dance Company in the same city.
Fleming broke into films and television with a recurring role on “Viper” and in Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore.” She continued to act in small roles before director Dario Argento cast her in his show “Masters of Horror” in 2005. Fleming played a disfigured woman with cannibalistic tendencies in her titular episode, “Jenifer.” She made appearances in various horror shows, including “The Tooth Fairy” and “Bloodsuckers.”
Fleming also had a recurring role on the popular horror-drama CW show “Supernatural” as Karen Singer, the wife of main character Bobby Singer, played by Beaver. She later appeared in the 2015 TV film “The Unauthorized Full House Story,” which followed the behind-the-scenes making of the hit sitcom. Fleming played the mother of “Full House” star Candace Cameron Bure, who appeared on the show as DJ Tanner.
More recently, she had a recurring role for five seasons as Candy Baker on the CW’s “iZombie.” Fleming also appeared in several BC stage productions, including “Noises Off,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Steel Magnolias,” and “Fame.”
Fleming is survived by her daughter Madalyn Rose (Max). A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
