Whoopi Goldberg And Sara Haines Slapping On The View

I've come to expect some off-the-cuff moments while watching The View, but an all-out slap fight was definitely not one of them.

On Thursday's live show, The View hosts, Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines, slapped each other for a total of six times in some sort of awkward... show of admiration?

Justin Theroux and Kate Hudson joined The View hosts during a segment when the random hitting began. Who started it? Sara, when she hit Whoopi on the arm after Justin mentioned working with an "icon" like Meryl Streep on The Devil Wears Prada 2. It was a playful slap, seeming to convey that Sarah also felt the way Justin did, because she gets to work with an "icon" like Whoopi every day.

I mean, Sara really does love her.

But, way to annoy your icon. Whoopi slapped Sara back on the arm, while saying, "Ow!" Sara did not get the message, and additional slaps were exchanged.

So, six slaps are kind of hard to ignore, especially on a live set. After the sixth, Justin said, "Why are we all hitting each other?" Whoopi's visible annoyance showed that she was not into whatever the heck Sara started.

This isn't the first time the two exchanged slaps on the talk show. Last month, Whoopi slapped Sara with her cue cards when Joy Behar joked about dating "famous men."

And back in 2017, Whoopi addressed Sara's tendency to "hit" her co-workers, causing the hosts to change their seats. "This one can not keep her hands to herself," Whoopi said.

One of my favorite things about watching The View is Whoopi's very real responses and reactions. She is not there for the nonsense. Hopefully, The View will close out the week slap free, for Whoopi's sake.
