There might be no time to die, but there is time to find the perfect James Bond.

During Amazon MGM Studios‘ presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday, the studio’s head of film Courtenay Valenti gave a hint into the casting process for the forthcoming installment in the beloved spy franchise from director Denis Villeneuve.

“Now, I know you’re all wondering when we’re going to announce who’s playing James Bond,” the exec told the crowd. “Please know that we’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect. It is the dream of a lifetime for all of us to bring audiences this next chapter, and it’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”

She continued, “What I can tell you is this: When you pair one of the most beloved franchises in history with a world-class filmmaking team, including the brilliant director Denis Villeneuve, extraordinary producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, executive producer Tanya Lapointe, and screenwriter Steven Knight, you’re setting the stage for something that’s truly worthy of the Bond legacy. That film is coming, and when the time is right, we’ll have much more to share.”

Bond last hit the big screen when Daniel Craig played the iconic character in Cary Joji Fukunaga’s 2021 hit No Time to Die. News broke last year that Amazon MGM would take over creative control of the franchise that was long led by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

CinemaCon is the annual event for exhibitors and Hollywood studios that runs this year from April 13-16. It is the official convention of Cinema United.
