Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) went after President Trump over an apparent tip to a delivery person on Monday, saying “all” the president “cares about is fighting his war with Iran.”
On Monday, a user on the social platform X posted a photo of the delivery person at the White House and said “this photo op doesn’t land right now.”
“Everyone’s broke, doordashing, onlyfansing, prediction market gambling, to make ends meet and Trump handing out a $100 tip to an older lady who still has to work is bad optics. Like ‘Here buy yourself a tank of gas. Good luck. Enjoy the war,’” the user added.
Greene responded to the post on Tuesday by saying, “this is exactly how I saw it.”
“Cost of living is so high and the value of a dollar is so low that senior citizens have to Door Dash to scrape by, but billionaires are always unaffected,” she added. “Trump doesn’t care bc he doesn’t feel it and all he cares about is fighting his war with Iran.”
Greene recently has been a frequent Trump critic after previously being one of his strongest supporters.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene is a quitter who is pathetically trying to stay relevant by going on liberal media shows to bash President Trump. Unfortunately, Trump Derangement Syndrome has rotted former Congresswoman Greene’s peanut-sized brain,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle said in a statement to The Hill.
Trump on Monday received a McDonald’s delivery to the Oval Office in an effort to promote his “no tax on tips” law. The president got two bags from the fast-food chain from a delivery person wearing a “DoorDash Grandma” shirt.
After Trump touted plans to eliminate taxes for tips during his 2024 campaign, Republicans put the provision in their expansive tax and spending law signed last year, affecting federal income taxes for those working in jobs that have historically received tips.
When the delivery person, who later identified herself as Sharon Simmons, was asked if the White House had good tippers, the president appeared to pull cash out of his pocket and hand it to her.
