The Trump administration launched the website Moms.gov on Mother’s Day in an effort to help provide resources to expecting women and their families.
The site’s tagline says it’s “addressing the needs of mothers and fathers who face difficult or unexpected pregnancies and ensuring the well-being of mothers and the health of American families.”
Information on the website spans from details about Trump Accounts to breastfeeding, mental health, health centers, nutrition facts and adoption.
“Moms.gov delivers critical tools and support to help parents foster healthy pregnancies, strengthen young families, and create brighter futures for their children,” Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a statement.
“This is how you Make America Healthy Again,” he added.
The announcement comes as the Supreme Court weighs the legality of mailed prescriptions for the abortion pill and on the heels of a testy exchange between RFK Jr. and Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.), who questioned the Trump administration’s efforts to decrease the Black maternal mortality rate.
Black women are at least three times more likely to die from childbirth than white women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
During a hearing last month, Lee repeatedly dug into RFK. Jr. asking him, “How we could solve the Black maternal mortality crisis if we can’t say ‘Black’?”
The Pennsylvania representative cited the Trump administration’s push to remove diversity, equity and inclusion efforts from the federal government, including the elimination of programs geared toward studying and reducing health disparities for specific demographics.
In the Sunday release related to the creation of Moms.gov, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Women’s Health Dr. Dorothy Fink said, “Through our Perinatal Improvement Collaborative, we have reduced maternal mortality by 41.5 percent.”
She added, “We remain committed to supporting women’s health throughout motherhood and at every stage of life.”
