Latido Films Secures Major Distribution Deals Following Cannes Market
Madrid-based sales powerhouse Latido Films has announced a series of significant distribution agreements following the recent Cannes Film Festival. The most notable acquisition involves Kino Lorber, which has secured U.S. rights to "Re-Creation," a project helmed by acclaimed director Jim Sheridan and co-writer David Merriman. This deal underscores the continued demand for high-profile auteur-driven cinema within the North American market.
Beyond the Sheridan project, Latido has seen robust international interest in its diverse slate of films. The drama "9 Moons," which explores the narrative of a pregnant trans man, has successfully closed theatrical distribution deals across more than half of the global market. Additionally, the romantic drama "Nothing Between Us," starring Gael García Bernal and Natalia Oreiro, has begun its initial sales rollout, signaling strong commercial potential for star-led international features.
Latido’s success extends to the genre sector, where titles such as "The Awakening" and "The Whisper" continue to expand their territorial reach. The company also reported early pre-sales momentum for its upcoming genre projects, including the war action film "Carte Blanche" and the period thriller "The Harvester." These developments highlight a broader industry trend where specialized distributors are increasingly betting on a mix of prestige auteur projects and high-concept genre films to drive international box office performance.
