(NewsNation) — It has been eight weeks since Nancy Guthrie disappeared, and there have been no arrests and no suspects named in her apparent abduction.
In a recent interview, her daughter, NBC host Savannah Guthrie, mentioned back doors to the home were propped open when the family discovered the 84-year-old was missing.
NewsNation used drone footage to get another look at the doors in the back of the home.
There are two doors on the back of the home, and they were apparently propped open when family members went to check on Guthrie and discovered she was missing. Behind the home is rough land with brush, cacti and trees.
“You can’t even see her house necessarily, there’s just so much brush and trees back here,” said former Pima County SWAT commander Bob Krieger.
The terrain around Guthrie’s home has proved a challenge in the case.
“There’s no way they’re bringing her back this way. If they got there that way, they clearly had to go out the front,” Krieger said. “If they’re propped open, it’s clearly for a reason. Quick in, quick out, whichever it was.”
Authorities are treating Guthrie’s case as an abduction, saying they believe she was taken from her home in the late night or early morning hours before she was reported missing.
The FBI released surveillance video of a masked person who appears to tamper with a camera at the front of the house, but no suspects have been named in the case.
The Guthrie family is offering up to a $1 million reward for information leading to her recovery, and the FBI’s $100,000 reward remains active as well.
Anyone with “actionable information” is asked to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department nonemergency line at 520-351-4900.
