President Trump boasted about a Republican candidate winning former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) seat despite “the stench left” by the Trump-supporter-turned-foe ex-congresswoman.
“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown’s (GREEN TURNS TO BROWN UNDER STRESS!) seat in Congress has been taken over by a wonderful and talented man, Clay Fuller, who won convincingly, and right from the beginning, despite many people running for that ‘TRUMP’ +37 seat, and despite the stench left by Greene,” Trump said in a Wednesday afternoon Truth Social post.
“Congratulations to Clay Fuller, a very large improvement over his deranged predecessor! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he added.
Republicans escaped a loss and elected Fuller, who Trump endorsed, to fill Greene’s former seat on Tuesday. Fuller was victorious over Democrat Shawn Harris for Greene’s seat in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District. In January, Greene resigned from her seat, triggering a special election.
Greene, who was once a loyal Trump supporter, has turned on the president in the last year. The two have feuded in recent months, with Greene on Tuesday pushing for Trump to be removed from office via the 25th Amendment amid a threat from the president to escalate the conflict against Iran.
The former congresswoman has also said Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) slogan was a “lie” and that the first year of his second term was centered on appeasing wealthy supporters.
“I think people are realizing it was all a lie. It was a big lie for the people. What MAGA is really serving in this administration, who they’re serving, is their big donors,” Greene said in a radio interview earlier this year.
“The big, big donors that donated all the money and continue to donate to the president’s PACs and donate to the 250th anniversary and are donating to the big ballroom,” she added.
