23 Fictional Character Deaths That Still Haunt People

The beautiful thing about books, movies, and TV shows is that you spend so much time with the characters and getting to know their stories that you're bound to feel attached to them. Which is why when something bad happens to our favorite characters, it feels personal.

Recently, we asked BuzzFeed Community members to share the fictional character's death that still haunts them to this day, and if I have to relive some of these, so do you:
1.
"Newt from The Maze Runner. I refused to finish it for three weeks because Newt wasn't there. The worst part was when I watched the movie. I ate an entire chocolate bunny and cried for hours until my mom told me to shut up."

2.
"It will always, ALWAYS be Leslie from Bridge to Terabithia for me. 😭😭"

3.
"Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos. It is my favorite show of all time, and I can't even count how many times I've rewatched it, but each time I do, Adriana's death is one of at least three that were shocking and unnecessary. No one in that show is an angel by any means, but when you follow her character from the beginning, she was just so naive and kind, and just so in love with someone who was lethally insecure and dangerous, living an even more dangerous lifestyle. She definitely didn't deserve what she got, but obviously, for the show and flow of the plot, it was unavoidable. The first time I saw 'Long Term Parking,' I stared at the blank screen for at least five minutes before it ended, before moving on to the next episode. It's been years, and it still rattles me sometimes. 10/10 show, though."

"The Governor in The Walking Dead! Ughhhhh! I am watching it for the first time, and when I got to the Governor, I was in AWE! I freaking loved him! He's an amazing villain, but doesn't go too far into the evil aspect like Neegan. I LOVED THE GOVERNOR."

6.
"Joyce Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That scene still hits the same, all these years later."
The WB

Chrissy from Stranger Things because I feel like they rushed her death SOOO much. She seemed like such a sweet character, and I was so excited to learn more about her, but then you get to the end of the episode, and you have to see her bones cracking. Like, HELLO?!"
