Universal’s “Michael” opened at No. 1 at the U.K. and Ireland box office with £11.6 million ($15.6 million), according to Comscore, delivering one of the strongest debuts of the year in the territory.
The studio also held second place with “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” which added $1.4 million in its fourth weekend to reach $46.5 million in total.
“Project Hail Mary,” distributed by Sony, placed third, taking $1.1 million in its sixth frame for a cumulative $43.1 million. Entertainment Film Distributors’ “The Drama” followed in fourth with $682,000, lifting its total to $12.4 million.
