President Trump issued a warning to Iran to make a peace deal on Thursday evening, saying the U.S. military has not begun “destroying” the Middle East nation and reupping his vow to “finish the job.”
“Our Military, the greatest and most powerful (by far!) anywhere in the World, hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Bridges next, then Electric Power Plants! New Regime leadership knows what has to be done, and has to be done, FAST!”
His message comes as the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation in the region nears the end of its fifth week.
Trump also celebrated the recent attack on the “biggest bridge in Iran” earlier in the day, writing on Truth Social that there is, “Much more to follow!”
“IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY!” he continued in the post, which included a video of the smoking structure.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi decried the strike in a post on social platform X.
“Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender,” he wrote.
“It only conveys the defeat and moral collapse of an enemy in disarray,” Araghchi continued. continued. “Every bridge and building will be built back stronger. What will never recover: damage to America’s standing.”
Iran retaliated with more strikes on energy infrastructure in its neighboring Kuwait, hitting a desalination plant and refinery in the nation on Friday.
The Trump administration’s tactics amid Operation Epic Fury have received criticism from Democrats and some Republicans in Congress.
Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) accused the president on Thursday of “resorting to war crimes” and condemned U.S. attacks on civilian infrastructure in the country.
“He’s kicked the hornet’s nest, he’s got his foot stuck in it and he doesn’t know how to get out,” Moulton told MS NOW on Thursday. “So what is he doing? He’s resorting to war crimes.”
