Must Watch This Weekend: Big Mistakes, You Me And Tuscany
by Nora DominickBuzzFeedBuzzFeed StaffAs a Senior Talent Booker and Producer at BuzzFeed, you can typically catch me flailing about the buzziest TV shows and movies.
This week in Screen Time, Dan Levy returns with his first comedy series since Schitt’s Creek in Netflix’s Big Mistakes. I also recommend catching up on Shrinking right now, a documentary you need to watch if you’re obsessed with Artemis II, and more. Plus, we’ve got the first trailer for Remarkably Bright Creatures. Then, we have what’s going on over on BuzzFeed Celeb’s YouTube channel, and I share my favorite opening scenes from some classic movies.

Big Mistakes — watch for: Dan Levy and Laurie Metcalf’s perfect comedic timing
Spencer Pazer / Netflix
Streaming on Netflix
This is one of my favorite new comedy series of the year, and it shouldn’t be a surprise because it’s created by Dan Levy and Rachel Sennott. In his first series since Schitt’s Creek, Dan once again helps craft a hilarious comedy about a dysfunctional family put into an absolutely absurd situation. This time, it’s basically a comedic version of The Sopranos. Big Mistakes follows Nicky (Levy) and his sister Morgan (Taylor Ortega), who have suddenly found themselves mixed up in organized crime through a series of unfortunate events.
Similar to Schitt’s Creek with David and Alexis’s dynamic, Nicky and Morgan are the real highlight of this comedy of errors. Dan and Taylor are so funny together, and have perfect chemistry to sell this absurd story. Alongside this duo, Laurie Metcalf plays their mother, Linda, and let’s just say there is a reason she is a comedy legend. Laurie’s delivery is still just as fast and wickedly funny as it was back in Roseanne. I found myself cackling every time she opened her mouth, which is the highest compliment I can give her. While Season 1 lacks the emotional heart and depth that Schitt’s Creek had, if you’re looking for Dan’s humor in a new show, this is worth a binge-watch!

Sally — watch for: A pretty perfect (and tender) documentary about a NASA pioneer
National Geographic / NASA
Streaming on Disney+
If you’re like me and you’ve reentered your space hyperfixation era thanks to Artemis II, then I think you should also be like me and watch Sally. From director Cristina Costantini, Sally explores the life and career of Sally Ride, who was the first American woman and third woman ever to fly in space. She was also the youngest American astronaut to go to space, at just 32 years old. The documentary explores her extraordinary career at NASA and her relationship with partner Tam O’Shaughnessy, which was kept secret from the public until Sally’s death in 2012.
Sally is a great documentary for space fans and anyone who wants to learn more about women’s contributions to the NASA space program in the ‘70s and ‘80s. If you watch this and are still like, “WOW, I need more stories about women in space,” you should also read Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Atmosphere, which is probably one of my favorite books of all time.

You, Me & Tuscany — watch for: A delightful turn-off-your-brain rom-com
Giulia Parmigiani / Universal Pictures / Everett Collection
In theaters now
You, Me & Tuscany follows Anna (Halle Bailey), a free-spirited cook who makes one of the brashest decisions she’s ever made in life: to go and stay at a seemingly abandoned Tuscan villa owned by a man, Lorenzo (Marco Calvani), whom she met one night at a bar. But when she gets there, she quickly finds out it’s not really abandoned, and a series of lies leads her to now say she’s marrying Lorenzo. So, Anna finds herself planning a fake wedding surrounded by Lorenzo’s family, namely his cousin Michael (Regé-Jean Page), who might just change everything.
Halle and Regé-Jean have great chemistry in this delightfully upbeat rom-com that is exactly what I want from this genre: great chemistry between leads and a wholesome story with heart and humor. It’s a delightfully fun movie that’s worth a trip to the movies, if only to help prove that we deserve more of this genre in theaters.

Shrinking — watch for: One of the best TV shows that’ll make you laugh and cry
Apple TV
Streaming on Apple TV
If I haven’t said it enough lately, let me put it into writing here again. Shrinking is one of the best shows on television. This week, the Season 3 finale aired, so if you’re someone that prefers a binge-watch over a weekly release, now is your time to either watch all of Season 3 or start from the very beginning if you’ve never watched an episode. The show has already been renewed for another season, too. Created by Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel, and Brett Goldstein, Shrinking follows Jimmy (
