by Spencer AlthouseBuzzFeedBuzzFeed StaffI’m the Editorial Director at BuzzFeed — where I’ve reported on TV, film, and lifestyle trends (travel, fitness, and food) since 2013 — and I also post about the latest in pop culture news to my 850k+ followers on TikTok.
I've been professionally writing about TV and movies for well over a decade, so trust me when I tell you that we're eating GOOD right now. I watch pretty much everything, and there are so many fantastic series on TV and streaming this year, so here are 15 of my favorite new shows ~and~ 16 of my favorite returning ones that are currently on TV in 2026. Enjoy!
If I missed any of your own favorite shows then please recommend them in the comments!
1.
Your Friends & Neighbors (2025–present) is a dark comedy crime drama that opens with Jon Hamm's character waking up next to a bloody corpse in someone else's house. The rest of the series unravels how this wealthy suburban dad got caught up in alllll this drama, so trust me when I say that it's juicy, funny, and full of wild twists. Also, everyone in the cast is very hot! Enough said!
Apple TV
What it's about: "A hedge fund manager resorts to burglary after losing his job, targeting wealthy neighbors to maintain his family's lifestyle, but makes a fateful error while breaking into the wrong home."

Rooster (2026) is Steve Carell’s return to TV comedies, and I'm so, so happy. He plays a messy, divorced, bestselling author who accepts a job at the same college where his just-as-messed-up daughter teaches. It’s funny, a little awkward, and super heartfelt. Oh, and Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, and Connie Britton are also in it. God is real.
HBO Max
What it's about: "A comedy revolving around an author's intricate bond with his daughter, set against the backdrop of a college campus."

The Comeback (2005–2026) is one of my favorite shows EVER, and it'll have you laughing out loud every 10 seconds. This masterpiece was created by and stars Lisa Kudrow, and it follows her character as a former '90s sitcom actor who's so desperate for the spotlight that she agrees to have a reality show crew document her "comeback" into Hollywood. It was canceled after one season in 2005, brought back for a second season but canceled again in 2014, and now it's back for a third and final season 12 years later. Each season somehow tops the last, and you'll be kicking yourself for not watching it sooner.
HBO Max
What it's about: 'An ex A-list celebrity attempts to rekindle the flame of her once prominent acting career with nothing but a camera crew and some determination."

DTF St. Louis (2026) is a dark comedy where Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, and David Harbour are in a love triangle, and one of them ends up dead. Two detectives start investigating everything, but nothingggg is as it seems.

What it's about: "A darkly comedic tale of three middle-aged individuals entangled in a love triangle, leading to one's untimely demise."

5.
Paradise (2024–present) is a political-ish thriller where Sterling K. Brown plays a Secret Service agent to the president, played by forever-hottie James Marsden. There's a twist at the end of Episode 1 that genuinely made me gasp, but I don't want to spoil anything for you, so PLEASE just watch it. If you need more convincing, this show was created by the same guy who made This Is Us, it also stars Julianne Nicholson, and Season 2 just added Shailene Woodley and Thomas Doherty to the cast. Again, we're eatin' GOOD.
Hulu
What it's about: "A Secret Service agent investigates the murder of a former president in a seemingly peaceful community."

6.
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins (2026) is a mockumentary comedy from Tina Fey in which Tracy Morgan plays a disgraced ex-football star and Daniel Radcliffe plays the documentary filmmaker who's trying to make a movie about him. Every other line is a smart, laugh-out-loud joke, so if you even remotely liked 30 Rock then I promise you'll love this.
NBC
What it's about: "A fallen football player star seeks redemption and a chance to restore his tarnished reputation."

The Night Manager (2016–present) is a British spy thriller that originally aired for one season in 2016, and it was just brought back for a second season a decade later. It's actiony and suspenseful and STEAMY (if you must know, there's a lot of sexual tension between Tom Hiddleston and Diego Calva's characters, so, like, we won!!!).
BBC
What it's about: "The night manager of a Cairo hotel is recruited to infiltrate an arms dealer'
