The furor around Timothée Chalamet's unearthed comments about opera and ballet is, somehow, still continuing.

You probably remember that this kicked off more than a month ago, when Timothée's comments that were made during a CNN & Variety Town Hall event with former Interstellar costar Matthew McConaughey set off something of a widespread backlash. "I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera," he said at the time. "Things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.'"

Since then, every single damn person in Hollywood has felt the need to weigh in on Timothée's remarks — and the latest entrant in this ongoing phenomenon is Charlize Theron, who directly addressed what he said in a recent interview with the New York Times.

Charlize's volley came after discussing the physical rigors that the practice of dance requires. “Dance is probably one of the hardest things I ever did," she said. "Dancers are superheroes. What they put their bodies through in complete silence.”

After the reporter joked, “Sorry, Timothée Chalamet," Charlize went in for the kill. “Oh, boy, I hope I run into him one day,” she replied. “That was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time."

"But in 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timothée’s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live," she added. "And we shouldn’t [expletive] on other art forms.”

“Dance taught me discipline," Charlize continued. "It taught structure. It taught hard work. It taught me to be tough. It’s borderline abusive. There were several times that I had blood infections from blisters that just never healed. And you don’t get a day off. I’m literally talking about bleeding through your shoes."

"And that’s something that you have to practice every single day, the mindset of just, you don’t give up, there’s no other option, you keep going.”

I mean, at least she's coming from the perspective of experience! You can read the entire interview right here.
